DLD missionDLD aims to fortify and enhance the position of the ship in the inland transport chain by providing innovative solutions for issues concerning logistics, environment and safety:
| Logistics: | Increasing the transport via water by stimulating the integration of the ship into the total transport chain. | | Environment: | Reducing the fuel consumption and emission of exhaust gasses and particles in inland ships, by improving ship hydrodynamics and applying innovative techniques on propulsion units. | | Safety: | Enhancing the safety of inland navigation in a three-sided approach:
- Nautical training & education including the use of simulators
- Ship side: improving the manoeuvrability, navigational equipment and strengthening ship construction.
- Shore side: improving the traffic management by applying innovative techniques. |
